This is the first outing for the Manchester Met hill walking group and a great chance to take in the beautiful scenery that Edale has to offer. The walk is supported by our Outdoor Education department and is part of Engage Week.

Start time – 10.00am

Finish Time – Allow 4-5 hours including stops and general chat.

Start Venue – Penny Pot Café, Edale Station Approach, Edale, S33 7ZA (Very close to Edale railway station, opens at 8.30am for brew and brekkie)

Parking – Pay and display parking available at the junction with
main road through Edale (Grid 125853), this is approx.. 100m from café.

Equipment – walking boots, rucksack, packed lunch, plenty to eat and drink, clothing as appropriate for forecast conditions i.e. waterproofs.  Sunscreen/sunglasses in the unlikely event we have a sunny forecast, trekking poles if used, camera etc.

Route – Approx. 10km, there are options to shorten if required,
(we will make an assessment of the group and their aspirations on the day). From Edale, ascend to Kinder Scout Plateau via Ringing Roger, head West along Kinder Southern Edges including Nether and Upper Tor, at this point we can decide whether to descend via Grindsbrook or to continue round to Grindsbrook Knoll before descending back into Edale.

To book your place on the day email Abi Dean, Active Lifestyle office, on a.dean@mmu.ac.uk. Places are limited so will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
