Bus priority package: Temporary suspension of left lane turn

Bus priority package: Temporary suspension of left lane turn at Whitworth Street and Oxford Street junction

From Monday 15 August through to Sunday 4 September, the left-lane turn from Whitworth Street into Oxford Street, where it passes the side of the Palace Hotel will be temporarily suspended.

The closure is necessary to undertake essential work on the carriageway that will ultimately link into the changes being undertaken further along the corridor.

Diversion signs will be in place, with the recommended alternate route for drivers and cyclists heading from the Piccadilly direction as follows: Princess Street into Charles Street before re-joining at Oxford Road.

A number of bus services will be operating an updated diversion route and Transport for Greater Manchester compiled details of the affected services on its website.

TfGM has updated its overview map on its website to help people plan their journey around both sets of work.
