MANCHESTER Met’s LGBT Staff Forum, LGBT Student Society, and Equality and Diversity team have joined forces to create a comprehensive guide to Manchester for new LGBT staff and students.
The guide contains information on local clubs and societies, LGBT-inclusive places of worship, and local and national LGBT festivals. It also outlines the university’s commitment to equality for all, and advises how to report incidents of homophobic, biphobic or transphobic bullying and harassment.
Stuart McKenna, Manchester Met’s Equality and Diversity Manager, says: “This guide is a fantastic resource for people new to Manchester, as well as those who have been here a while. It is important that we are raising the visibility of LGBT lives throughout the year, and demonstrating our commitment to our diverse body of students and staff.”
Copies of the guide will be available throughout the year at staff inductions and at the 2016 Freshers’ Fair, and are also available online here http://www.mmu.ac.uk/equality-and-diversity/pdf/12576_LGBT-Guide-2016.pdf.
