Sophos for personal use – no more!

HAVE you been using Sophos Antivirus from the University on your home computers?

Please remember you will no longer be able to do so from Wednesday, August 31, 2016. From this date onwards, the University-owned computers will still be protected by Sophos Antivirus, but it will not be available for home use.

This means the copy you have on your home machine will no longer get updates and will stop working, leaving you vulnerable to every kind of internet threat.

What you need to do:

  1. Uninstall your Manchester Met version of Sophos Antivirus. It won’t update after Wednesday, August 31, and that’s as bad as not having any security software at all!
  1. Please ensure you have your own antivirus software installed on your home computers.

There are many available, including plenty of free options – Google is your friend. As Sophos fans, we suggest Sophos Home, but the choice is yours.
