Accounting, Finance and Economics creates ‘Top 200’ guide for Manchester Evening News

The Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics (AFE) has produced a who’s who of the region’s top firms for the Manchester Evening News.

The special supplement features a host of data on the region’s firms including turnover, profit and workforce size.

MEN Media teamed up Barclays, Manchester Airports Group and the University to launch the North West Top 200, detailing the biggest and best companies analysed on a range of data.

Thousands of copies have been produced as well as featuring on the MEN’s website. It is the second year the AFE team has analysed the region’s companies for the media outlet.

All of the research was carried out in the Department, overseen by Professor Chris Pyke, Associate Dean and Head of AFE, and Dr Vincent Fitzsimmons, Senior Lecturer in Economics.

Prof Pyke said: “We’re pleased to be able to team up with MEN again to produce this guide, a fascinating look at the companies around our region. As a leading Business School we are ideally placed to help drive this growth but also produce the analysis needed to give a much-needed snapshot of the current health of the sector.

“It is, of course, interesting times for UK firms both large and small following the Brexit referendum, but we will keep monitoring the sector to ensure that North West firms can continue to flourish in all economic scenarios.”
