All Manchester Metropolitan University employees are entitled to a free eye test every two years.
In partnership with Boots Opticians, the University has recently switched over to an automated Eye Care provider, and employees can now book an eye exam at any Boots Optician of their choice.
To book your test, please visit the dedicated Manchester Metropolitan University Eye Care Gateway.
Once you have verified you are an eligible employee, you will be asked to choose a Boots Optician to attend for the assessment, followed by the type of examination.
The standard exam (for the majority of employees) includes a sight test and a contribution towards single vision, bifocal or varifocal glasses, including an advanced MAR anti-reflection coating as standard.
Employees working in hazardous areas may be required to wear safety glasses (this will be indicated to you by your line manager). The safety glasses test should only be booked following a conversation with your manager, as, the issuing of safety glasses requires an additional level of authorisation. The HR Service Centre (upon receiving your request submitted via the gateway) will contact your manager to gain approval on your behalf, and therefore, it is advisable that you make your manager aware you are planning to, or have made, a request for safety glasses.
Once your request has been processed, you will receive a voucher via email or text, dependent on your chosen communication method.
It is the employee’s responsibility to arrange and attend the appointment. You are under no obligation to purchase your eye care from Boots Opticians; however, the University contribution is only valid with Boots Opticians.
If you have any further questions, please contact the HR Service Centre on 6624 or email@example.com.
