Conferences: Are you a Football researcher?

Future Football: A Design for Life conference
30 November at Broadhurst Park

There are only a few spaces left on the ‘Future Football: a design for life’ conference  (30 November) at Broadhurst Park, the home of FC United.

The aim of the conference is to bring together football researchers, academics and students from across the disciplines to share research findings, interests, stories, methods and to develop better research and collaboration across the collective. The conference will also host guests from outside of academia, including journalists working in football and practitioners from the football industry. The conference chairs include Alan Tomlinson, Stacey Pope, Jean Williams, Simon Chadwick, Jamie Cleland and Peter Millward.

If you have not yet booked a place, please do so ASAP, ideally by Friday 21 October and inform organisers of any food and refreshment requirements.

International Football History Conference
15th – 16th June 2017 at City Football Academy

Organised by International Sport & Leisure History at Manchester Metropolitan University, the inaugural International Football History two-day conference will take place next year at the City Football Academy, Manchester City Football Club.

International Football History will consist of presentations focusing on the latest research into football’s origins, regional histories, gender, race and issues within football.

This is a call for papers to be presented at the inaugural International Football History conference. There will be an opportunity to present on any topic relating to the history of
football. We are particularly keen to include papers focusing on football’s origins, regional histories, gender, race and issues within football (including football of all codes).
Proposals for twenty-minute papers should be sent to Dr. Gary James via email (gary.james@mmu.ac.uk) by 15 December 2016.

Abstracts are welcomed from researchers from any discipline, so long as they adhere to the themes of the conference.
