Acupuncture at The Manchester Movement Unit

The student acupuncture clinic offers acupuncture treatments at greatly reduced prices.

Students are now in their third and fourth year of their traditional acupuncture degree at Manchester Met. They are assessing and treating clients to develop their clinical skills and so work in the onsite teaching clinic.

Student acupuncturists will be closely supervised by highly experienced acupuncture tutors. Each appointment lasts 60-90 minutes. Each appointment costs £10.00.

What is traditional acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which involves the insertion of fine, sterile, disposable needles in specific points of the body (called meridians or channels) where the body’s vital energy ‘Qi’ flows.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, if there is no blockage in the mentioned channels, there is no pain or illness. However, when these are blocked, illness appears. By inserting acupuncture needles, the Chinese practitioner stimulates the body’s energy ‘Qi’ and aims to unblock the body’s energy channels to prevent and/manage illness.
