Event: The Axis Spring Slam 2017

The Axis Arts Centre and the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Crewe hosts its first ever Spring Slam on Tuesday 14 February.

With cash prizes and the chance to win guest slots at some of the nation’s best spoken word nights, prepare yourselves for a roller-coaster ride of fast-paced performance poetry.

Twelve poets, short-listed from an open submissions call, have three minutes each to entertain – with no singing, props or music. The poets use everything in their verbal arsenal to win over the audience and a panel of judges.

The winner is crowned Axis Spring Slam Champ 2017, wins cash and becomes a poetry slam legend at other nights including Evidently Salford, Sonnet Youth Glasgow and Milk Bristol.

The poets, chosen only this week, include Lisa Luxx, Victoria McNulty, Davy Charles, Tyrone Lewis, Trevor Meaney, Natasha Borton, Hannah Davies, Shannon MacGregor, Hannah Raymond-Cox, Liam McCormick, Thalaya Darr and Will Tyas

Hosted by award-winning performance poet Ciarán Hodgers, The Axis Spring Slam 2017 is on Tuesday 14 February at 7.30pm.

Axis Arts Centre brings contemporary theatre, dance, music and spoken word to Crewe and surrounding areas. All shows are open to the public. The Axis Spring Slam is one of eight performances, exhibitions and writer events over the next two months.
