Art sought around themes of modern slavery and exploitation for Fairtrade Art Show

As part of our commitment to Fairtrade, the Environment Team have launched the call for artwork around the themes of modern slavery and exploitation.

We hope our socially conscience staff and students will have a strong reaction to the fact that so many of the products we rely on have been touched by exploitation and modern slavery.

We are asking you to share or create a piece of art expressing this for our show, to be displayed between May 2 and 5 in the Link Gallery on the All Saints Campus.

Work has already started coming in and we are really excited about the show.

There will also be a launch evening, which will offer students and staff the chance to network and enjoy Fairtrade wine and refreshments.

Please share with any staff and students you think may be interested in taking part, it could be an existing work or brand new piece that relates to the themes.

Some reasons to get involved:

  • Have work displayed on campus in a university show
  • £50 in art supply vouchers to be awarded
  • Attend the launch party
  • Make people aware that modern slavery and exploitation are unseen parts of their lives
  • Raise awareness for Fairtrade

If you have any questions or you know a student who would like to be involved, please email: environment@mmu.ac.uk
