Celebrating World Social Work Day

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Care and Social Work has been celebrating World Social Work Day during the past week.

As part of the day, held on March 21, hosted the film I, Daniel Blake by director Ken Loach for students and practitioners.

Head of Social Work Samantha Baron was keynote speaker for a celebratory event held at Westminster for MPs, practitioners, academics in her role as chair of Joint University Council Social Work Education Committee, talking about “Social Work as a profession, works tirelessly at the coalface of vulnerability, need and at times desperation.”
