Applications for the University’s First Generation scheme to help young people to become the first in their family to go to university opens on Monday (April 3).
Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting bright local students into and through university, providing the support and encouragement to help young people succeed.
The First Generation scheme opens for applications on Monday from pupils in year 12 at local colleges and schools to help them unlock their potential and benefit from a package of support.
The scheme is only made possible thanks to the generosity of alumni, staff and friends of the University. The University is currently fundraising for First Generation and has raised £100,000 so far.
During the recent First Generation Alumni Phone Appeal, over £18,500 was generously committed to support nine students on the First Generation scheme. Many graduates also chose to volunteer their time and expertise for future students.
As staff, you already do so much for the University everyday but you can do more to benefit our deserving students – there are many ways to get involved.
Why not join the #McrMetProud team and for a subsidised entry fee of £20, run with fellow staff, students in the Great Manchester Run on 28 May! If you haven’t a chosen charity in mind, why not run in aid of First Generation?
