Look out for Business Support and Improvement Team delivering key priorities for digital literacy

Welcome to Karl Gimblett, Digital Literacy Development Manager in the Business Support and Improvement Team. Karl joins the team from the University of Staffordshire and his first steps in the role are the development of a strategy to identify key priorities which will include the setting of a baseline for digital literacy, developing a programme of training for the summer term and designing a digital self-audit tool that will help staff identify areas of development.

Together with Phil Swire, Digital Literacy Development Officer, Karl is keen to ensure the team are responding to the ever-changing demands of technology by helping Manchester Met staff make best use of the equipment and systems they work with on a daily basis.

A great example of this is the increasing interest in One Note, a great tool for collaboration – as well as the scheduled training sessions during the last term, Phil has delivered bespoke sessions for a range of teams keen to see how One Note will work for them.

“It was very informative and professionally delivered and the training was pitched at just the right level. Phil really inspired me to start using OneNote on a daily basis”, says Judy Gunn, PA to the Director of Facilities.

Over the coming months, look out for Karl and Phil as they promote the new suite of training sessions. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback for the team, please drop them an email at digital.literacy@mmu.ac.uk
