Road closures on Oxford Road: April 10 to 23

The Bus Priority works are entering the final construction phase.

A road closure will be in place from Monday 10th April until Sunday 23rd April 2017. This will affect Oxford Road from the junction with Booth Street East/West and Charles Street/Hulme Street.

Diversion signs will be in place for road users and cyclists. Pedestrian access will be maintained to all buildings affected by the closure.

Bus routes will also be affected for the period of the works, please check with your bus operator.

A temporary relaxation of the left turn ban from Grosvenor Street on to Oxford Road will continue until the end of this closure. Two way access to Sidney Street will also be permitted via the Grosvenor Street junction.

On completion of the works, Oxford Road will be transformed into a new ‘boulevard’ environment, which prioritises buses, cyclist and pedestrians.

The new bus gate is now in place between Hathersage Road and Booth Street which restricts access to general traffic between 6.00am – 9.00pm 7 days a week.

A map of the completed scheme and associated restriction is available via the TfGM website: www.tfgm.com/oxfordroad.

Road users are advised to familiarise themselves with the new routes into the City Centre.
