Team #McrMetProud 10K runners have already raised £2,800 for charity

Runners joining Team #McrMetProud to complete the Simplyhealth Greater Manchester Run 10K have already raised more than £2,800 for good causes.

The more than 460 signed-up staff and students, who will be wearing branded orange T-shirts on the day, are competing in aid of a variety of charities and funds at the annual street race on Sunday May 28.

You can see participants and their chosen beneficiaries – and leave a donation – at

With less than six weeks to go until the big day, Team #McrMetProud members who are raising money through but are not yet featured on the team page should join the team on the site.

That way, we can show just how much money is being raised by the institution’s Orange Army for worthy recipients.

Anyone currently without sponsorship is encouraged to consider running in aid of First Generation, the University’s unique campaign to support talented students who are the first generation of their family to consider going to university.

The scheme will tackle the full range of challenges that these particular young people face by providing support and encouragement to help them come to university and then additional financial, personal and professional support throughout their studies.
