CELT have just launched the call for proposals for the 2017-2018 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) grants.
The purpose of the SOTL research grants is to promote scholarly work at Manchester Metropolitan University that leads to the development of staff research capacity and the enhancement of the learning experience for students, as articulated in the University’s Strategy for Learning, Teaching and Assessment.
The aims of the scheme are to:
- encourage scholarly work to improve the quality of students’ learning.
- examine and evaluate new teaching techniques.
- Support the development of pedagogical research expertise in teaching staff, especially those new to research in higher education.
- Produce scholarly outputs for dissemination within Manchester Metropolitan University and beyond.
Anyone with an establishment teaching role at Manchester Met is eligible to apply (individual or group).
Applications are also welcome from staff with other learning support roles – in some cases it may be appropriate to include a colleague with a teaching role in the project team.
Applications are especially welcome from staff new to research.
The bid window has been brought forward this year, to allow staff to plan projects well in advance of the summer holidays. Please note the earlier application deadline of Friday 26th May.
The proposal form itself includes information about the selection criteria and the application protocol, but anyone who is considering an application is very welcome to contact Charles Neame for further information and an application form at firstname.lastname@example.org, or on 0161 247 4671.
This will be the fourth year of the scheme, and colleagues can find out more about the variety of projects supported by the scheme to date at this link: http://www.celt.mmu.ac.uk/sotl/index.php
The application form will also be available at this link.
