PERU director to chair Manchester election hustings on housing policy

Dr Chris O’Leary, director of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Policy Evaluation and Research Unit, will chair a special election hustings on housing and the private rented sector on Tuesday 23rd May.

The Residential Landlords Association event will feature a cross-party panel from across Manchester debating the issues facing one of the fastest growing private rented sector markets in the country.

Speakers include:

  • Mike Kane, Labour candidate and MP (2014-2017) for Wythenshawe and Sale East
  • Stephen Woods, Chairman of the Wythenshawe & Sale East Conservative Party and Area Officer for the Greater Manchester Conservative Party
  • John Bridges – Liberal Democrat candidate for Manchester Central and former Manchester City Council Councillor

Dr O’Leary said: “I am very excited to chair this debate on what will be one of the biggest issues facing the government throughout the next parliament, whoever is elected on 8th June.

“The Policy Evaluation and Research Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University is a multi-disciplinary team which specialises in evaluating and designing evidence-based policy. We will be working with policy-makers over the coming years to ensure a buoyant and affordable housing market in Manchester and beyond.”
