Atif Waraich is leaving the School of Computing, Mathematics and Digital Technology to take up a promotion as Head of Computer Science at Liverpool John Moores University.
Atif joined us in 2000 as a Senior Lecturer and was promoted to Head of Division of Digital Media and Entertainment Technology (DMET) in 2011. During his time in the School he has been involved in a number of strategic initiatives including leading the introduction of our Computer Games courses, introducing the usability lab and overseeing the introduction of Computer Animation.
He has led EU and Innovate UK bids and has helped shape our research activity. Aitf has been a key figure in cross-Faculty work, especially with Art and Design and Health, and one of the reasons for our strong reputation is Atif’s excellent communication of the work we do across the University.
Atif has also been committed in is his support for students. He has been an teaching and learning innovator throughout his time here, just two examples are his early adoption of podcasts and the more recent promotion of games jams.
