2016 saw the launch event of the Manchester Met Women’s Network. The aim of the Women’s Network is to provide a platform for women to share their experiences, listen to inspiring speakers, provoke discussion and provide mutual support.
The launch event was very well attended and gave staff the opportunity to meet other professional women from across the University and participate in an enjoyable workshop to envisage the aspirations of the network.
Since the launch event, the University has organised a programme of events to celebrate International Women’s Day, sponsored Manchester City Council’s International Women’s Day Festival Awards Ceremony, supported ten women on the Aurora leadership development programme, reviewed family-friendly policies, and is currently developing a Working Parents’ Network.
We would like to invite you the next Women’s Network on Monday 10th July 11.30am-1pm in room 5.05 in the Business School. We are thrilled that, one of our very own, Professor Helen Laville, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education will be our first guest speaker. Helen is an internationally renowned expert on post-war American history and has published extensively on women’s history, civil rights, gender equality and international relations.
At the meeting, you will also have an opportunity to learn more about the support available, other events already planned and to take away a questionnaire to help us plan more activities for the year. Of course, you can just use the time to meet new colleagues over lunch and refreshments!
- 11.30am – Welcome by Josie Elson, Asst. Director of HR.
- 11.45am – Talk (including questions) by Prof Helen Laville.
