First Generation Scheme Student Welcome and Induction Event

On Wednesday evening, the University was delighted to welcome to campus the first cohort of students to the First Generation scheme. The event, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Malcolm Press, and Pro-Chancellor, Vanda Murray, and attended by colleagues from across the University, was organised to introduce Year 12 students and their families to the scheme, to showcase the University and to provide an opportunity for students to meet fellow First Generation students and staff of the University.

First Generation was established to help bright, young people, from backgrounds that do not usually enter higher education, to secure an undergraduate place at Manchester First gen terrace.jpgMetropolitan and then provide continued financial, professional and personal support throughout their studies and into employment.

Manchester Metropolitan University has a proud tradition of helping young people succeed, regardless of their background. First Generation, the first scheme in the UK to bring together this complete student journey of support, can only happen with the generous and visionary support of our staff, alumni and partners.

As staff, you already do so much for the University everyday but if you would like to find out how you can get involved with First Generation, please go to: mmu.ac.uk/firstgeneration
