Thanks to the generosity of alumni, staff and benefactors like you, nearly 100 Manchester Metropolitan University students have received life-changing support.
Nine students, many of whom have recently graduated, received awards funded entirely by philanthropic donations and corporate support, in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
These prizes are funded entirely by gifts from donors like you, to recognise the achievements of students and many are established in memory of alumni, students and staff.
First Generation is inspiring visionary people, like you, from across the region to support students who are the first generation of their family to consider higher education. This week, the first cohort of First Generation Students from schools and colleges across Greater Manchester attended a three-day residential to help aid their transition to study and to encourage a sense of belonging.
The Summer School provides new students with the opportunity to hear from current students, staff and Alumni Ambassadors; graduates who were the first in their family to go to university, helping them gain an insight into what it is like to study here.
Watch our video at mmu.ac.uk/firstgeneration to hear Vice-Chancellor Professor Malcolm Press, Pro-Chancellor Vanda Murray OBE and First Generation Ambassadors explain how First Generation transforms the lives of young people, and how you can get involved.
Your continued support helps us to make higher education accessible to even more talented and deserving students, and helps them to thrive while they are here.
Visit our website to hear from students who are already benefiting from such support, to keep up to date with the campaign and learn how you can get involved.
