University expertise and insight helped inform a special debate at a fringe event during the Conservative party conference.
Think-tank Reform convened a panel event at the Conservative party conference in partnership with the University’s MetroPolis policy unit, featuring Liz Truss MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
The theme of the event was ‘Delivering public services that citizens deserve: the role of innovation’.
Chris Fox, Professor of Evaluation and Policy Analysis at Manchester Metropolitan, joined the panel.
The debate discussed how technology is helping to open new opportunities in public services, such as innovation in healthcare diagnostics, Big Data for targeted crime interventions and welfare delivery supported by online services.
Prof Chris Fox has since blogged on the subject in which he states that the government should continue to experiment with different and innovative models of commissioning of services, helping to re-shape and redesign the delivery of public services.
