The University currently runs an Employer-Supported Childcare scheme known as Childcare Vouchers. Employees are able to purchase vouchers from their gross salary (before tax and National Insurance) to pay for childcare. This is known as a ‘salary sacrifice’ arrangement.
The government is introducing a new scheme known as Tax-Free Childcare. This is due to be in effect in April 2018. In order to access the Childcare Voucher Scheme as a new entrant before the April 2018 cut-off, a parent will have to have made a salary sacrifice (ie. had a voucher issued) before 5th April 2018. The act of making an application will not be sufficient and is not recognised in legislation.
In line with Manchester Metropolitan University Payroll dates, new entrants must have enrolled in the Childcare Voucher scheme with our provider Fideliti by Thursday March 1st 2018.

Parents who are currently registered with the existing Childcare Voucher scheme will be able to remain on the scheme for as long as they have childcare costs. They will be able to choose whether they continue on the existing scheme or move to the new Tax-Free Childcare scheme. However, they cannot be in receipt of support through both schemes at the same time.
