The new staff intranet will launch this spring, providing you with new features as well as signposting tools and information that you need to do your job effectively. This includes:
- A new staff directory containing the main contact details and staff photos;
- News, notices and a special features section;
- An effective search function which will help you find the information you need more easily;
- Frequently requested information and mandatory policies that staff need to do their jobs.
The intranet development is moving along at pace, with teams across the University busy building the content. We want to make sure you can easily find the content and tools you use on a regular basis and we have already taken on board feedback from colleagues who took part in our recent survey about the intranet structure. Thank you if you took part.
Our new intranet also deserves a great name – ‘the Intranet’ doesn’t really reflect our vision or personality as an organisation. We would like your help choosing the perfect name. We are looking for creative suggestions which reflect the values of the University – ambition, place, community, partnership and sustainability. Common Intranet names include Hub, Hive and Staff Portal but we think we can do much better than that with something which reflects our brand personality. Stan (Standard Life) or Arthur (ACCA) are other, more personal options, but what would you choose for the Manchester Met Intranet?
We will pick three options from those submitted and you will be able to vote on your favourite closer to our launch date.
We also need your help to make the Intranet homepage the place to go to find what you need. What are the top tasks you need or want the intranet to support with, which links do you use the most and what is the work-related tool or system that you can’t live without?
Let us know by completing the intranet name and quick links survey.
