You may have heard people talking about GDPR. You might even have been contacted about it by companies keen to keep your personal details on file. But what’s it all about? How does it affect you at work? And is there anything you need to do to make sure you don’t accidentally break the rules?
General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, comes into force on Friday 25 May 2018 and means that, as a University, we need to change the way we manage data. Our Data Protection Policy has been updated – so we’re compliant as an organisation – but there are some things you need to do.
Data Protection Training Module
This is the mandatory bit. All staff must complete our Data Protection Training Module by Friday 25 May, so we can ensure the whole of the University is up to speed.
The good news is, the module is easily accessible though this link (including the short Data Protection Quiz you’ll need to complete) and it only takes about 20 minutes. This is your chance to get ahead of the game on GDPR – so click the link and get it done today!
Ahead of the go live date, we’ll also be sharing some other handy information, including:
- What you need to do with personal data
- GDPR checklist: What to action before 25 May
- GDPR top tips
- Who to contact for further GDPR support
Remember, GDPR is everyone’s responsibility. So take the training, keep your eyes peeled for more updates in the coming weeks and, if you have any questions in the meantime, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
