Manchester Metropolitan celebrates the Technician Commitment

Manchester Metropolitan is delighted to announce the launch event of the Technician Commitment, a sector-wide initiative that celebrates the role our Technicians play in supporting our teaching and research.

The Technician Commitment launch event takes place on Tuesday, 24th April, at Lecture Theatre 1 in the Geoffrey Manton Building and Dr Kate Dixon, Head of Technical Services, is looking forward to celebrating the great work our Technicians deliver every day:

“We have over 250 Technicians supporting students and staff members across the University and the Technician Commitment pledges to give visibility and recognition to technical staff, career development opportunities and create initiatives to sustain their specialist skills.

“The commitment is supported by the Science Council and The Gatsby Foundation and our launch event will demonstrate Manchester Metropolitan’s continued dedication to our technical workforce, as well as celebrating the positive difference our Technicians make to the student experience and research output at the University.

“Vice-Chancellor Professor Malcolm Press and Professor Richard Greene, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, will be making addresses at the event and you can visit our Technical Development Zone on the day for more information about our Technical Services.

“This is a great opportunity to not only acknowledge the support our Technicians give to our students every day, but to share with you how the University is going to set the bar high for others to follow with the Technician Commitment.”
