Graduation success for University staff members

Congratulations to all of the Class of 2018 who enjoyed their Graduation Ceremonies at the Bridgewater Hall.

Among those celebrating were a number of staff, including Martina Holubcova and Jess Pringle, who received their master’s certificates at this year’s graduation ceremonies.

Martina, Manager of the ISDS Service Management Office and Jess, HR Advisor in Projects and Policy, studied part-time at Manchester Metropolitan for two years while continuing their full-time work.

We caught up with both Martina and Jess, who told us more about their course and why they chose to study here.

Martina Holubcova graduated with an MSc in Business Analytics

Martina currently manages the ISDS Service Management Office and recently completed her MSc in Business Analytics:

“I didn’t follow the traditional route to university, instead of completing an undergraduate degree I went straight into work. I’ve always wanted to study and working at Manchester Met has given me the chance to do it.

“When I noticed the course online, I knew immediately that it was what I wanted to do. It was new to the University and the topics covered were unique.

“The course relates to my current role and my dissertation focused on measuring customer satisfaction. I’ve also been asked to present my research findings at conferences and industry events, which was really exciting.

“A highlight of the course was experiencing the University from a student’s point of view. It was great to see the passion of the lecturers and experience the whole journey students take throughout their studies here. ”

Jess Pringle graduated with an MSc in Human Resource Management

Jess currently works in HR and completed her MSc in Human Resource Management:

“I chose to study at Manchester Met as it was the only local university where I could study the master’s programme part-time.

“The content of the course complemented my current job role and it has enabled me to embed new HR practices into the workplace.

“I’ve really enjoyed studying here and I’d like to thank the lecturers who supported me throughout the course, they appreciated that some students were managing a full-time job alongside their studies.”
